Wabi Sabi

What it means to me

As a Japan-born and Colorado-retired Speech Pathologist, and a life-long learner, my past and current experiences blend into hand-built clay designs that tend toward the organic, sometimes rugged, and slightly imperfect.  "Wabi Sabi" is a Japanese philosophy that embraces art in imperfection and acceptance of the natural cycle of life.  I invite you to browse through my work to find your new favorite piece of functional or decorative pottery!

Colorado Textures and Colors

Colorado's big skies, rugged mountains, lakes, rivers, and green spaces provide a potter endless inspiration.  Earthy browns and reds layer rock structures, grasslands spread out in greens and tans, against a sky filled with hues ranging from smoky blue to brilliant turquoise.  The medium of pottery allows an artist to work in colors and textures that echo the landscape itself.
